FRED LORENZEN 1965 LAFAYETTE FORD GALAXIE 1/24 UNIVERSITY OF RACING
The original Golden Boy of racing, Lorenzens famous #28 Holman Moody Ford Galaxie is the latest edition to the UOR Legends lineup. In a career that lasted only twelve short years Lorenzen scored 26 wins and 75 Top 5 finishes at NASCARs premier level. His good looks and natural racing talent propelled him to the top of the racing ladder and established him as a force week in and week out.
After racing stock cars in the Midwest, Lorenzen joined forces with Ford powerhouse Holman Moody in 1961 and dominated the superspeedways. Under the guidance of legendary team co-owner Ralph Moody, Lorenzen became one of NASCAR's all-time best drivers. In 1963, he became the first driver in racing to earn over $100,000 in a single season. In 1965 Lorenzen captured some of racings greatest trophys, including the Daytona 500, The Virginia 500 at Martinsville and the World 600 at Charlotte.
In 1998 Lorenzen was named one of NASCARs 50-Greatest drivers and in 2001 he was inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame. It wont be long before we see Fearless Fred Lorenzen enshrined in the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
