In a race largely dominated by the Chevrolets of Hendrick Motorsports, Dale Earnhardt Jr. drove his No. 88 Nationwide Chevrolet SS to the checkered flag in the Can-Am Duel 1 at Daytona International Speedway.
After making a final pass to take the lead with six laps to go, Earnhardt held off a strong push from the second-place driver in the waning laps to win. The Duel win was the fifth of his career the most among active drivers and his second in two years. He led 43 of the events 60 laps and won by 0.183 seconds over the runner-up.
