In his seven-year career at the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series level, Richmond won 13 races, notched 78 top ten finishes and started from the pole 14 times. This 1982 No. 2 J.D. Stacy Buick is the car that gave Richmond his first top-five finish on April 4, 1982. The race was the CRC Chemicals Rebel 500 at Darlington Speedway, and the result proved Richmond had what it took to hang with the big boys of NASCAR. Richmond drove to his first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series win on the road course at Riverside.
